I could possibly sell my 2 current AG Neovo 19" screens for about 80 quid each, which will soften the blow - not sure if I'd get that much for them though. They're in good nick, although there is one dead pixel on one of the screens, but it's been there since day 1 and hasn't gotten any worse..
put it together with one of the dual core quad boards + 4GB DDR2 (standard nvidea video card 512) and you have the beast! http://www.ankermann-pc.com/en/
Thanks for the link there. No particular reason, but I've always been a bit suspect of Acer stuff..
Potentially just because a few Acer laptops have caused problems for friends of mine and the build quality always seemed a little more flimsy. I've never looked at their screens though.
I have bought two of them over the last 5 months no problems so far but know what you mean about the old acer reputation - I was after the 1920 x 1200 res at the time of purchase -
I wouldn't even have a notion what my current refresh rate is, heh.
I don't do any gaming though, so I'm not too concerned. I guess if I ever decided to get a console I'd want a good refresh rate. My main concern is good colour and a good brightness level as the office can get quite bright.
I'm on 8ms refresh, can be annoying especially while gaming. very hard when it is bright out to see as the contrast is low too so if i turn the brightness up the colors distort a bit.
again the acer is very good - excellent bright white and range - sure 2 ms is better but haven't tested - I use it on video editing - second life - and video conferencing - broadcasting so can get plenty on the screen at one time...
Yeah, I don't think I truly understand the relevance of the specifications of monitors.
I would have thought 8ms would be pretty good response time, but maybe the eye is pretty quick on noticing lag, more so than the ear (which is where I'm more familiar with latency - I can have my keyboard set up with about a 20ms latency and not feel any real issue).
@onlinemeetingrooms: Cool. Well it certainly sounds like you're a satisfied customer and I'll definitely keep them in mind. We've had quite a few LG's over the years and I was leaning towards them just due to past experience, but the Acer does look pretty tempting.
If only I didn't have to buy two of them, decision making would be so much easier!
Heh. Probably. I always find it funny to see all the different brands and wonder realistically how many manufacturers actually make all of these models..

There's quite a price difference between 2 of
http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=345665 €586 ex vat
and 2 of
http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=344039 €652 ex vat
If I was just buying 1 it would be easier to choose, but it becomes awfully expensive when you're looking at 2, and I can't go back to 1 screen.. ;)

@onlinemeetingrooms: Which acer exactly? All the acers on Komplett have 5ms refresh

Seems like Pixmania Pro is cheaper on some items, more expensive on others (over Komplett)

I find ghosting to be annoying, so refresh rate is important... I've found no problem with 2ms gtg.
